About BTN
Mission
The Baltimore Teacher Network was founded by educators all working with Baltimore City’s Public Schools, with the feeling that teachers were an underrepresented voice in the process of designing and supporting Baltimore City’s schools and classrooms. We are a small non-profit dedicated to acknowledging and disseminating voices from those classrooms, and supporting teachers and their allies in being successful in that context.
We believe in balancing a focus on the work of teacher and student with engaging in the political/organizational context that governs this relationship. To that end, we have offered professional development sessions, published a periodical, and supported city-wide mentoring programs, and currently sponsor two charter schools (check them out their links on our website). Part of our current growth is the establishment of this website as a format for educating and networking teachers and their friends.
